Red Stripe

Let's go back in time...

Come with us on a journey back before red stripe even existed.

Start

1918

And so it begins. Thomas Hargreaves Geddes and Eugene Desnoes formed Desnoes and Geddes Company limited, setting the stage for the historic inception of Red Stripe Beer.

1928

The very first Red Stripe branded beer was brewed, becoming a milestone in Jamaican history. "What a time to be alive" they all probably said.

1938

Peter Desnoes and Paul Geddes join us and take over the family business whilst Red Stripe continues to fly in Jamaica.

1962

Jamaica gains independence from Britain. Hefty amounts of Red Stripe were consumed in the process.

1965

The Red Stripe stubby bottle was introduced. Proof that good things come in small packages.

1970

Our great beer starts popping up in the UK. You're welcome, Britain.

1990

Red Stripe starts getting papped on nights out with rock stars as we become the beer of live music.

2003

Excuse the brag but we went and won a gold medal in the Monde Selection.

2005

For the first time ever, export volume exceeds Jamaican volume due to soaring UK demand.

2015

It's a big one – Red Stripe becomes part of the Heineken family.

2016

We teamed up with purveyors of all things indie, This Feeling, to create our own music show: Red Stripe Presents: This Feeling TV

2017 - 2020

Further cementing our music roots. We've been the official beer partner of the Q awards for 4 years now and in 2020, we were also the official beer partner of the BRIT awards with Mastercard. Great stuff.
